Tracy Walker's Story
Tracy and I met during a one on one basketball game at his house. He beat me the first game, but the next time we played, I beat him 12-0 while only using my left hand. I knew from the beginning that Tracy was a good kid and I spoke with his mother about training him. During this time I was training to play college ball so I invited Tracy to train with me. We trained together and shot 500 shots everyday on St. Simons Island Fitness Center. We trained on weights and eventually became best friends. Our families grew close and when Tracy needed a mentor, his mother would reach out to me to help. I would sit down with him and remind him of the bright future that he had ahead of him.
Our training always hard work and I worked with him to elevate his aggressiveness. Because of this, he became great at following through even when fouled. We also worked on his footwork, ran sleds, ran stairs and even took turns pushing a car up the block as an exercise to strengthen our legs. Tracy's speed improved and he ran a 4.5 sec 40. He had a lot of court awareness when we met and I helped him increase his other skills.
I remember times when we'd sit and talk about the future and what we wanted to accomplish. Dreaming out loud worked and Tracy received a scholarship to the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
